1) Overview

TimeProof is a macOS productivity app that helps you document work sessions by recording timestamps, optional screenshots, and generating timelapse videos. We designed TimeProof to process data locally on your device and to collect no analytics by default. You control what is recorded, where it’s stored, and when it’s deleted.

This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2) What Data We Collect

A. Data you choose to record in the app

  • Screenshots (optional): Still images of your screen that you enable during a session.

    • Sensitive possibility: Screenshots may include personal or confidential information if visible on your screen.

  • Session metadata: Start/stop times, elapsed time, total recorded time.

  • Timelapse outputs: Videos generated from your screenshots.

  • Project folders/paths: The base folder and any save locations you select.

B. Device permissions (macOS)

  • Screen Recording permission: Only if you enable screenshots/timelapse.

  • File access permissions: To read/write in the folders you choose.

C. Diagnostics (optional)

  • Crash logs: We rely on Apple’s standard crash reports if you opt in to share with developers in macOS. We do not receive personally identifiable information from these reports.

We do NOT collect account profiles, contact lists, keystrokes, clipboard contents, location, advertising identifiers, or behavioral analytics.

3) How We Use Data

  • Provide core features: Capture screenshots you enable, compute totals, and build timelapse videos.

  • Local storage: Store your screenshots, timelapses, and session files only in folders you select.

  • Support & troubleshooting (optional): If you email us logs or sample files, we’ll use them solely to investigate your issue and then delete them.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4) Where Your Data Lives

  • On your device by default. TimeProof does not upload your data to our servers.

  • Your cloud, if you choose: If your selected save folder is in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or similar, your files may sync according to that provider’s privacy terms.

5) Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data. We only disclose data if required by law (e.g., a valid court order) and after verifying the request’s scope and legality.

6) Data Retention & Deletion

  • You control retention. Files remain until you delete them or change your save settings.

  • In-app cleanup: You may delete any session, screenshot set, or timelapse at any time using Finder.

  • Support materials: If you send us diagnostic content, we delete it when the support case is resolved unless we’re legally required to retain it longer.

7) Security

  • Local-first design: Processing is on device whenever possible.

  • System protections: We rely on macOS sandboxing, code signing, and hardened runtime where applicable.

  • Your responsibility: Protect your Mac account, disk encryption (FileVault), and chosen cloud providers with strong passwords and MFA.

8) Your Choices & Controls

  • Turn screenshots on/off. You can run timers without screenshots.

  • Choose storage location. Pick a base folder before starting a project; change it anytime.

  • Review & delete. Use Finder to review or remove any TimeProof files.

  • Permissions: Revoke Screen Recording/File access in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

9) Children’s Privacy

TimeProof is not directed to children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10) International Users

If you store files in cloud services, those providers may process data in other countries under their terms. We ourselves do not transfer your content to our servers.

11) Your Rights (GDPR/CPRA/UK GDPR where applicable)

Depending on your region, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to object or request portability. Since TimeProof stores your content locally and does not hold server-side copies, most requests can be fulfilled by you directly on device. For any questions, contact us at [support@yourdomain.com].

12) Third-Party Services

TimeProof itself does not integrate third-party SDKs for analytics or ads. If you save to a third-party cloud folder, that provider’s privacy policy applies to syncing/storage.

13) Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as features evolve. We’ll post the new date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or on our website. Your continued use of TimeProof after changes means you accept the updated policy.
