1) Overview
-
Sentinel is a real-time risk intelligence platform designed to enhance civilian safety in regions affected by conflict and instability. We aggregate verified reports, analyze regional data, and provide situational awareness to help users navigate hazardous environments.
-
We prioritize the safety and anonymity of our sources. This Privacy Policy outlines how we process critical intelligence data while protecting the identities of those on the ground.
-
2) What Data We Collect
-
A. Intelligence & Incident Reporting
-
Incident Reports: When you submit a report (e.g., checkpoint activity, kinetic activity, infrastructure damage), we collect the location, timestamp, and category of the event.
-
Media Evidence: Photos or videos you voluntarily upload to verify incidents. We strip EXIF metadata (metadata that identifies your specific device) from public-facing media to protect your identity.
-
Source Reliability: To maintain high-fidelity intelligence, we may track internal trust scores based on the accuracy of your past reports.
-
B. Location Data (Strictly Controlled)
-
Real-Time Location: Only if enabled, we collect your device’s location to push proximity alerts for nearby threats.
-
Region Selection: We store your manually selected operational zones (e.g., Specific Districts or Borders) to filter relevant intelligence.
-
C. Account Information
-
Authentication: A secure username and hashed password. We encourage the use of pseudonyms for users in high-risk zones.
-
Device Identifiers: We minimize the collection of unique device identifiers to prevent tracking by third-party adversaries.
-
3) How We Use Data
-
Risk Analysis: To generate real-time heatmaps, threat vectors, and safety corridors for users.
-
Alert Dissemination: To instantly notify users of confirmed threats in their vicinity.
-
Verification: To cross-reference user reports with other open-source intelligence (OSINT) to confirm the validity of a threat.
-
We do NOT sell your movement data, habits, or reports to advertisers or data brokers.
-
4) Where Your Data Lives
-
Secure Infrastructure: All intelligence data is encrypted and stored in isolated containers on our private Virtual Private Servers (DigitalOcean), managed solely by Peter J Franco III LLC.
-
Data Sovereignty: We do not rely on third-party analytics platforms that could leak user locations to foreign actors or governments.
-
5) Data Sharing & Disclosure
-
We maintain a strict "Civilian First" disclosure policy.
-
Public Safety: Aggregated, anonymized threat data is shared with all Sentinel users to prevent harm.
-
No Government Backdoors: We do not provide direct feeds to government or military entities unless compelled by a valid, unavoidable court order. We challenge broad surveillance requests.
-
Anonymity: We never share the identity of a reporter with the general public.
-
6) Data Retention & Deletion
-
Incident History: Historical conflict data is retained to analyze long-term trends and stability patterns.
-
User Deletion: You may nuke your account and personal logs at any time via the settings. Once deleted, your personal association with any reports is permanently severed.
-
7) Security
-
Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.3. Database volumes are encrypted at rest.
-
Operational Security (OpSec): We recommend users in hostile areas use VPNs and system-level encryption. Sentinel is designed to leave a minimal digital footprint on your local device.
-
8) Your Choices & Controls
-
Incognito Reporting: You can submit reports without tying them to your persistent profile.
-
Location Privacy: You can disable location services at any time and still browse the map manually.
-
9) Children’s Privacy
-
Sentinel is a tool for adults navigating complex environments. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
-
10) International Data Transfers
-
Sentinel operates globally. By using the platform, you acknowledge that intelligence data may be processed on secure servers located in neutral jurisdictions (e.g., Singapore, USA) to ensure service continuity during local internet blackouts.
-
11) Your Rights
-
You have the right to request a copy of all data Sentinel holds on you, or to request its complete destruction. Contact us directly for encrypted communication channels if needed.
-
12) Changes to This Policy
-
In the event of changing conflict dynamics or legal requirements, we may update this policy. Critical security updates will be broadcast via in-app notification.
